This is my first urban landscape painting since my exhibition "Mapping the Landscape" earlier in the year
It is a study of a billboard from around Birmingham, it's fascinating to see some of the billboards as they suffer with weather conditions/vandalism/poor glue, this often reveals hidden layers and when combined with the current image and a little serendipity creates an image infinitely more interesting than the intended advertisement (in my opinion) it is not a photo realistic reproduction but is representational, my focus is more on colour and free mark making to represent a line/image when viewed from a distance.
This painting is the first in this new work, it will be interesting to get some opinions and views on this new direction
